Waimea Community Theatre presents William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” as the group’s 50th anniversary spring production, scheduled to open today at the historic Parker School Theatre in Waimea.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is a story of lovers, fairies, workmen and a royal court based in Morocco. Theseus, Duke of Morocco, is about to be married to Hippolyta and they are planning their wedding celebration. Meanwhile, four young lovers are mixed up with Lysander and Demetrius both in love with Hermia while Hermia wants to marry Lysander but Hermia’s father wants her to marry Demetrius.
Directed by Felecity Johnson and Produced by Daniel Bal, the play will be peformed at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 3 p.m. Sundays through May 28. Tickets are $15 for adults, with discounts for seniors, students, children, military and for advance purchase.
